NATURAL TREATMENTS FOR THE BREASTS
Breasts benefit from physical agents such as heat, cold or massage. Before opting for plastic surgery, it is worthwhile to try natural treatments for the breasts.
COMPRESS ON THE BREASTS
The effects of breast compresses depend on the temperature.
- Warm Compress: Has a mild anti-inflammatory effect. It is recommended pain relief in fibrocystic disease (breast lump).
- Cold Compress: Recommended for stopping sagging. Promotes turgency of the mammary glands, tones the elastic fibres and strengthens the surrounding skin tissue.
Liquid for the compress
The compress is made by soaking a cloth or gauze pad in a warm liquid, which maybe:
- Seawater or salt water (9 grams of salt per liter of water, equivalent to about two heaping teaspoons of coffee).
- Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) preparation, made with 100 to 150 g of the herb per litre of water. The horsetail is rich in silicon, a mineral that stimulates the regeneration of the skins collagen fibers.
- Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) preparation, with 30 g of leaves per litre of water. Improves circulation and tones breast tissue.
Temperature: the water or preparation should be lukewarm or slightly warm, or 30-40 (86-104).
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Afterward: Dry the breasts and apply a softening cream onto the skin
Frequency: Once or twice per day
COLD-WATER SHOWER FOR THE BREASTS
A cold-water shower on the breasts tones mammary tissues and promotes smoothness. This should be done in the morning by directing the stream of cold water at each breast, making circular movements.
Duration: 1-2 minutes
Afterward: Dry breasts well and apply a softening cream onto the skin.
Frequency: Once or twice per day.
BREAST MASSAGE
As with any other type of massage, a breast massage promotes the drainage of blood circulating through the veins and lymph drainage. In this way, it improves tissue nutrition and firmness.
